Sebadoh vs. Pavement [Monday, 27th August, 2007 @ 5:42pm]

herschede
I notice that on a lot of indie rock forums no one ever mentions Sebadoh, has anyone else noticed that? That alone kind of bugs me, but what bugs me even more is when people say how great Pavement was. I don't know why but in my head there is this competition between Sebadoh and Pavement. Like both bands started out kind of on the same level, came from a similar place, and were highly praised and recognized within the indie rock world as archetypes of their genre, but then at some point, I guess after Harmacy was released, lots of people sort of abandoned Sebadoh and embraced Pavement as the most important indie rock band of the 90's, leaving Sebadoh in the dust. And by the time "The Sebadoh" came out, people didn't even give the album half a chance before dismissing it as rubbish. It felt like the indie community was completely done with Sebadoh, while Pavement seemed to be the blessed sons who could do no wrong.
I actually used to really like Pavement but the more they were hailed as producing some of the best albums of the 90's and nobody even mentioned Sebadoh, the more I started to dislike them. Because frankly I don't think Steve Malkmus is as good or as interesting of a songwriter as Lou and he's not as likeable personality-wise to me either. He always seemed kind of arrogant and smug to me. Maybe my perception is just completely off about this. But I was wondering if anyone else feels this way about Pavement and Sebadoh.

Dinosaur Jr's gear stolen! Please help! [Wednesday, 30th August, 2006 @ 5:32pm]

indecisean
I just got word of this -- if you know ANYTHING about this, or think you might know someone who can help out in any way, please do. There is almost nothing more infuriating to me than a band getting their gear stolen -- and for it to happen at one of the first shows of their tour...UGH! Please, if you are a dealer or pawn shop owner, take a few seconds to read this list of gear and let them know if you've seen anything come your way similiar.

Listed below is a list of gear that was stolen out of the Dinosaur Jr trailer last night (Tuesday 8.29.06) outside of their hotel in Long Island City, NY. We would appreciate spreading the word and passing this list around in hopes of recovering their gear. Feel free to send this list to any and all band, tour and production managers, guitar freaks, touring personnel, venues, musicians and or thieves that you think could help us.

If anyone has any information about this gear, please call Brian Schwartz at 303.998.0001 or Bart Dahl at 212.777.0922. Thanks

Is anyone planning on going to any of the upcoming Dinosaur Jr. shows? I just got my tickets for the Toad's Place gig, and I'm pretty excited. If you didn't know they were on tour, their MySpace is up to date with all the info -- they're hitting mostly the east coast here in the US, and then a few gigs in Canada at the beginning of next month. Hope to see some of you there!

this morning i sent lou an email, i thought i would share it with you.

----------------------

hello lou.

i dont usually do these sort of emails but i thought.. for mr barlow.. i will make an exception.

how are you? the main reason i have written to you is that i have been a 'fan' for a while now and wanted to 'prove the love'. i am part of a pretty big website called 'livejournal' (www.livejournal.com) <- there i have made a community, (there are millions of communities on there about various topics, mostly about hardcore kids wearing black) but mine is rather special.. its where people can reflect on Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh, The Folk Implosion and youself as a solo man. Well at the moment no one has posted but im sure it will be amazing once it gets off the ground. Maybe you could mail me back and tell me if its a shit idea, tell me to fuck myself, or maybe you can sign up to livejournal and join yourself (as there are only 2 members so far) maybe that would boost ratings or something..

fuck, i apoligise, my spelling and grammar is rather horrid.

i love cats nearly as much as you and i want to tell you my story also;

ok.. i live in the subberbs of london and my house backs on to a railway line, my cat was pretty young and one day he went out into the garden and came back with 3 legs, i went through a stage when i was young that cats with 4 legs had something wrong with them and i thought it was abdnormal, his name was purcey and he was a tabby, he hopped everywhere and lived 10years after that horrible day, and unfortunatly died of old age.

i hope you have enjoyed reading my very exciting email.. and i hope to say hello on the 29th may when i see you in islington, thankyou thankyou THANKYOU
